Week ending 29/1/16

Another week in the office (no client visits) but busy none the less.
Features found in Dynamics Nav:
smtp and create emails with pdfs attached in a hosted Nav 2013 requires different treatment for the location of the saved pdf file. Weird one!
First issue with dimension set id for vendor standard purchase codes in Nav 2013. Those assigned to a vendor purchase code do not come through when you Get Vendor Codes from an invoice or order. Dimension set id does and when you view the dimensions from the invoice or order line the dimensions are shown and as you exit they are shown on the line. Nothing before though! Again weird.
US database specific one this [Nav 2013r2] - you can configure US sales tax in Nav but beware - if you do not complete various ad hoc tick boxes, what works in standard sales invoicing does not for service management invoicing. All looks ok in service management until you post. Then sales tax disappears. Again a really strange one!
Work completed last week:
At last worked out a solution for label printing from Nav 2009 that does not involve creating a text file with printer specific language commands. Went back to creating a label type report in standard Nav and then tweaked for label sizes! Works - as you would expect.
Completed export to excel from sales price form using a form action. [Nav 2009 Classic].
Completed sales price excel import development. [Nav 2009 Classic] Having some strange issues when it comes to finding current lines that are the same in excel and Nav. Sometimes the codes cannot find what is in Nav. Need to resolve this week.
First line support issues resolved last week:
Completed a number of changes to improve and fix bugs re Nav 2009 Classic report.
Investigated and suggested solution for email pdf reports from posted sales invoice. [Nav v4]. Previous development completes had to use SLEEP command in Nav to slow the process down so Nav can find pdf created. Client moved users onto another server (not new) and generally performance slow (even for print preview) so emailing pdfs crashing or cannot find pdf. So suggested increasing SLEEP from 1000 (1 sec) to 5000 (5 secs). See what feedback we get this week.
Plans for this week: 2 client visits mid week - one to provide accountant and Dynamics Nav expertise, the other to train1 person on the financial management module on Dynamics Nav 2013r2 in 1 day. The latter will be a very busy day!
That's all for this week folks!
