Mostly support this week....

Most of the work this week has been Dynamics Nav support - either ongoing fixed price or post development when users completing testing. One set of Dynamics Nav developments for automating manual amendments to data passed user testing and will be on live next week. Hoping for the same of the enhanced email development. Then we can start the final piece of the development for the client. All coming together.
Next week is a client visit for a post pilot review and support for development completed. Again Dynamics Nav.
But clients still holding back on purchase order approvals. So pipeline looking thin at the moment but as ever the potential business very good. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time being treated to a meal by a client. A great evening - my only wish was that I should have booked a room so I could drink!!
Received a phone call enquiry re Dynamics Nav training. Part of the requirement was for Manufacturing training 1 and 2. Never heard of '1 and 2' but we do not do manufacturing module training. We cover all the base modules bar manufacturing and warehouse. We have experience of bith but not enough to train users. Passed details of colleagues in the same area who can provide this training to the person enquiring. I hope they find someone.
Also started looking at earnest at clients books for annual accounts and tax returns. Silly season for tax returns approaching (on line submission deadline 31/1/11).

Another development completed on Dynamics Nav

Just finished the pdf file attachment enhancement for a client using BullZip pdf creator on Navision v4. Instructions sent and awaiting user feedback.
We have also now created a network accessible Dynamics Nav 2009 RTC database. Accessible across the network from our server. We have been supporting 2009 Classic for some time.
First Iphone development coming along. Painful learning curve on this one but we are learning all the time. Just need to fix the 'back' navigation button and filter the details to show only those details requested. Currently the development  show google maps and locations as loaded and when a user selects the 'pin' the standard blue arrow button appears and this triggers a new screen when selected.
Still waiting to start the financial reporting using consolidation and accounts schedules in Dynamics Nav. Conference call tomorrow on Hungarian reporting requirements.
Lots of potential work out there (awaiting client PO sign off)!!

Quick post today!

Just a quick post today.
On the Dynamics Nav front, just confirmed a quote for enhancing the current email development for Navision v4. Fingers crossed it will be acceptable and the client will want this asap. Still quiet on the signed off PO front.
They say it is a small world! Logged into Linked In today and found my old IT director from my Sketchley days when I was Finance Director. Managed to make contact so hopefully we will keep in touch. It has been a few years.
No business admin  (debt chasing) today but Emily will be back from maternity leave in the next few weeks. Agreed terms for the return (Emily wanted to go part time and I, as the grandfather, would prefer my daughter to look after my grandson - very old fashioned I know!) so I am looking forward to that. Less business admin!
Still a relatively quiet week. Come on clients - sign off quotes please!

VAT rate change and Dynamics Nav (Navision)

Forgot to mention in the last post received our first request to confirm what changes are required for change of VAT rate to 20% on 4th January 2011.
So if you are using Dynamics Nav (Navision) and need to know, drop us an email at navhelp@fraserpriceconsulting.co.uk.

May be a quieter week this week!

We have had a client request for an iphone application. Our first such request following our Iphone / Ipad / Itouch development training in August this year. Looking for show stoppers at the moment with a view to creating a pilot application within 1 month if there are no show stoppers. Made good progress today. Watch this space!
On the Dynamics Nav (Navision) front, a further request from a client for emailing pdf files rather than htmls in Navision 4. Spec'd up and requested confirmation that the best free pdf creator that works with Navision 4 be used. Waiting for confirmation before quoting for the development cost as seriously caught out on last email development quote (very under costed!) due to issues with the client server set up and IT policy.
Chased debts today from all clients. May be I should look at factoring debt so I spent less time on business admin? Doesn't look good for qualified chartered accountant and experienced Finance Director. So probably won't! I have only recently has issues with client payments so I need to be patient!
Accounts schedule and consolidation work for a client signed off delayed for a week or two. Shame as this is what is making this a quiet week!
Still waiting for sign off on a large PO this week from a client. Not sure what the hold up is as I thought the requirement needed to be completed asap.
That's all for now!

Another day another dollar.....

More support than developments this week on Dynamics Nav.
Last week as a first view of a development by the users. A small but significant misunderstanding on 1 criteria which had an effect on what was created against their original requirements. Additional development effort confirmed and signed off on. Delivered Tuesday this week and UAT will start in earnest next week.
For another client, finally found a work around for email from Navision v4 that complies with the client's internet access policy for their Navision application. Original development well under quoted for. UAT started and a queries raised and resolved. Hoping for go live on email next week. Another development completed for the same client was well down the line of UAT so expecting sign off and transfer to live next week. Then we can start the last element of the signed off developments!
A few queries on the first line support Dynamics Nav help desk but all either resolved or quoted for if a development.
Another client signed off on training for Dynamics Nav 2009 and this was completed yesterday. It was a question and answer session.
And finally some accounts schedule and consolidation work signed off. This will be started in earnest next week when some data has been provided.
So next week will be a very busy week.
And scheduled an iphone development day on Monday.
