Week ending 22/1/16

Spent all last week at the office. No client visits and the same for this week. All change next week though!
Work completed last week included:
Non Dynamics Nav related, more accounts related: balanced up last statutory accounts to Nav and will post off final audit related journals today.
Fixed a number of misc changes to reports for layouts, fitting on a landscape A4 page etc. [Nav 2013r2].
Finished final testing and delivery of auto emailing vendor remittance pdfs so this is finally completed. Issues caused by hosted solution and issues re where files located and what needs to be done to attach file to an email. Action depends on whether creating or smtping! [Nav 2013].
Started auto emailing sales orders as part of the posting process. All finished so just need to deliver to client when smtp server settings confirmed. [Nav 2013].
Added more fields to an export to excel report as required by client. [Nav 2009 Classic].
Finished creating 3 new businesses from created master business. [Nav 2013r2].
Amended some jet reports previously created for a client. [Nav 2015]. Discovered that we cannot make some new reports as spec'd as we do not have Jet Essentials (not at the price Jet charge for it) and so cannot use additional functionality for NL function available in Essentials not in Express. For example 'First', 'Sum' etc which means no Report tab required and so multiple tabs possible on same spreadsheet. Never mind!
Sign off for US sales tax received so now configured on live US company on US database. Client will invoice this week.
Something changed on BingAds such that a landing page must be the same as that displayed on the advert. But character restriction on advert so had to redesign part of the web pages so that some new hidden web pages linked from BingAds would work. As a result 23 adverts suspended now all active. A bit of a hassle!
That's it for this week!

Week ending 15/1/16

Another week goes by and very busy. But this week looks a lot quieter.
Nothing to note re Dynamics Nav features though I did here a rumour that Nav 2016 allows data views in a consolidated business to each businesses GL entries. Turned out to be untrue in GB version after we tested it.
Work completed this week:
A day in London providing on site support for Dynamics Nav running through consolidation process [v5]. 2 days on site finalising management accounts for the month of December (yes we provide accounting expertise as well). [Nav 2013r2].
Development completed for EUR sales invoice with foot note re GBP value of VAT. [Nav 2009 Classic].
Final testing completed on auto emailing pdf remittance advices from the payment journal. Loaded into live along with all other developments (new fields / page actions off vendor and general ledger entries) today. [Nav 2013].
Also completed minor change to purchase order import via dataport re posting date. [Nav 2019 Classic].
So the majority of the week at client sites! But no client site visits this week though we need to complete for another client auto emailing posted sales invoices from the posting process in sales orders. Includes multiple language options for customers depending on language code assigned to customer card. SMTP set up table in Nav amended to hold email titles, bodies etc. [Nav 2013].
That's all for this week folks!

Week ending 8/1/16

Hello all! Nothing to report re features apart from designing layouts in Nav 2013R2 a nightmare despite the provision of wizards. But then adding data grouping very easy even without table keys / indices.
Work completed this week included:
Client on site support visits to make changes to the existing configurations and develop to requirements. Developments included changes to a previous cash flow development data extract and included developing reports for data extracted. Created master new company and tested so this week will create an additional 3 new companies as per client request. Configured new test company on US database for sales tax so that the user can test transactions pre go live. Also created a report to show sales tax liability for past transactions using the new sales tax configuration data. Fixed previously developed (amended from standard Nav aged debt reports) Aged Debt KPI reports to show correct totals for ageing having swapped the ageing columns around. [Nav 2013R2].
Started auto email development for a client to allow emailing pdf of sales invoice from sales order post and print option where customer has been identified as emailing sales invoice a preference. Tested functionality so now about to roll out to specific post and print routine. [Nav 2013].
On site attendance to train an end user (new to client) on Dynamics Nav consolidation process. Work on site included balancing off group consolidation to published accounts. [Nav v5 DE].
That's it for this week folks. More on site visits tomorrow / Thursday re finalising management accounts and publishing. More accounting than Dynamics Nav.

Week ending 1/1/16

Hope you all had a good Xmas and New Year. Despite the seasonal nature of the break we were busy in between Xmas and New Year.
Features of Dynamics Nav: getting brackets on reports like report 25 for accounts schedules and getting the variances between budget and actual to show properly (bad news in bracket) whether a revenue or cost and whether 'show opposite sign' or not. Easy? Nope. Looked it re brackets but suggested solution (advanced settings in Regional settings for desktop) did not work so had to program in Nav in report 25. [Nav 2013R2].
Anyway on with the work completed:
Purchase deal report completed for client that finds purchases for a user defined period and confirms current stock levels for the purchased stock overall and for the main lot as well as overall stock for the same item. [Nav 2009 RTC].
Completed backups of redundant companies on UK and US database, deleted the same companies and then created a copy of the live company on each database as a test company. [Nav 2013r2].
Completed the above feature development to show brackets and proper variances for report 25 accounts schedules. Also attempted same fix for overview but much more complex so need to find a solution. Strangely despite by ranting and raving of the use of 'text' fields rather than decimals on Nav 2015/2016 accounts schedules this may be the way forward to get brackets and proper signage on  accounts schedule overview. Watch this space.
Attended client site yesterday (hence delay in blog) to assist re Dynamics Nav 2013r2.
That's it for this week folks.
