The week so far

I am now on a 3 day a week on site contract for 6 weeks for a client at Preston. Dynamics Nav expertise required around configuration, process mapping and support. This was week 2. Lots to do so they are keeping me busy.
Very quite on all other client fronts for Dynamics Nav. We have had some enquiries but I don't think any action will be forthcoming until January when Xmas and the New Year are well and truly over.
Fraser Accounts on the other hand is ramping up. Personal tax returns due in by the end of January. We have done about half of our clients so plenty still to have a go at.
That's all for this week while I work on client quotes! :)

Ponderings.....

Another quiet week but with some potential business prospects. If we were measured on business potential we would be millionaires!
Started to look in earnest at Dynamics Nav 2013. Started with the upgrade tool. All going well until we realised we do not have a licence that would allow us to load in the new converted 2009 objects from the base 2009 database into the newly created Nav 2013 database. Cronus licence which comes with Nav 2013 does not work - as you would expect. So we need one of our clients to request the upgrade licence which then commits them to Nav 2013. Weird set up re upgrade path. So put some feelers out there to see if anyone has a Nav 2013 licence.
In fact thinking about it I don't see why a client cannot carry on using their old Nav 2009 licence after the Nav 2013 new licence upgrade has been completed.
More updates to follow as we make (or not) progress.
On another front, I wonder if there are any Dynamics Nav users in Nottinghamshire or Leicestershire? Last time we paid for some research on this very subject (back in 2005), there were very few users in these areas. So I end up travelling all over the country from Bognor Regis to Manchester.
That's all for now folks!

Another day, another dollar

Bit quiet at the moment on the Dynamics Nav support side of the business so we are actively looking for more work. New web pages on new domains all finished with links created (www.dynamicsnavukhelp.co.uk, www.fpconsult.co.uk, www.fraseraccounts.co.uk). If you now search for Dynamics Nav UK Help we are very near the top which is fantastic considering the new web page and domain have only been in existence for a month.
Sent out some emails yesterday confirming the day rates will be reduced by 20% for all orders placed in December 2012. Not much response yet but christmas really gets in the way of work!! Generally very quiet and I see no reason for anything different this year.
Went for a chat with a potential new client in Preston last week re Dynamics Nav work. Referred by recruitment agent which is a first. We normally get our own clients via web enquiries. The requirement was for between 3 and 5 days on site. But the client was really investigating options and some of the work they wanted completing could be done by a newly qualified accountant who would be a lot cheaper. Too far for me to travel daily. Client not interested either - or to put it another way as described by the agent, there are not interested right now. Watch out for this agent type speak!! Really means not interested at all!
On the other hand the accounts side (bookkeeping, tax etc) is ramping up nicely ready for the usual personal tax deadline of 31/1/13. Most of our clients are nearly done and I am hoping like last year we will get some more in the next 2 months for businesses where they are looking for a better service or cheaper service.
Fingers crossed Dynamics Nav work will get better shortly!

Mental note to update this blog

Apologies for any followers. Probably none as it has been some time since my last update.
We (Fraser Price Consulting) have had a busy September and busy-ish October but it is very quiet now. Very strange!!
So I have updated the web page style using a fantastic tool called Jimdo (www.jimdo.com). Tried it out for free initially this week and then created a duplicate of our current www.dynamicsnavconsultant.co.uk web page using Jimdo. Look and feel is much better so bought a new domain www.dynamicsnavukhelp.co.uk and added in the new created web page.
We would love to know what people think!
I will also be keeping an eye on it for search engine optimisation (SEO) to see if we get many hits.
We have a good summer in picking up several new Dynamics Nav clients but all they initially needed was some training. One set of on site training was pre purchase including installation of the 2009 demo. All for a very good price of £600 per day! Another set of training was for Dynamics Nav v5 German edition. Both had different styles of training (one was interactive with users using the system while I taught, the other was more of a run through. I am hoping for more work but only time will tell!
Working on a Jimdo web page for our accounts, book keeping and tax side of the business. We rarely get business from web searches (usually work of mouth) but I have never liked the layout of the web page and we can do better. So watch this space.
By the by, Jimdo Pro is £60pa including new domain registration (if appropriate) for each domain. Pro allows for SEO and all sorts of other stuff key for a business web page. But not for a personal web page. The free version includes a Jimdo advert on the right hand side.
That's all for this week. Fingers crosssed for more work next week.

Dynamics Nav training - 2009 RTC and Classic

Well just spent the last week providing training to 1 new client and an existing client.
The first set was a run through what was involved (step by step) in configuring Dynamics Nav 2009 Classic and how it could be used for end to end financial back office processes and more importantly reporting.
Dynamics Nav consolidation process is not the best on the market but with a bit of planning etc it can be a very powerful tool for group reporting!
2nd set of training was how to complete a base configuration for Dynamics Nav for the off the shelf product. This involved actually completing the base configuration as well.
So I have updated the web pages for the 2 different styles of training.
Next week we are providing the first of 3 days training for the financial processes in Dynamics Nav 2009 Role Taylored Client (RTC). And a visit to a new client (hopefully) to firm up on a development quote.
Also had some marketing advice for the web sites and and as a result  updated the main pages for the current 20% promotion re days rates and included more than 1 reference to 'Call us on...'.

That's all for this time! Hot and wet here in Notts!

Tuesday 8 May 2012

Well it has been a while!

A little gob smacked it was Oct 2011 when I last did a blog!
It has been a very busy 6 months with Dynamics Nav services to clients including the usual mix of major and minor developments as well as new business configurations, the roll out of Dynamics Nav consolidation and many many other reports.
Full range of Dynamics Nav services listed here.
We have had some potential new customer enquiries but for some reason most are in relation to the manufacturing module in Nav. We have a working knowledge of this but no more than that.
Found a potential business contact who are local and specialise in the manufacturing module but do not specialise in the areas we do. May be a good link up. On top of that they are also a Dynamics Nav Solution Centre and so sell licensing. We are too small for this although we have Nav accreditations.
So we have lit a lull in work and are now actively looking for more work.

So if you need some Nav developments doing (no job too small!) i.e. new functionality or new reports, then let us know. Contact details are navhelp@fraserpriceconsulting.co.uk.
Same goes for implementations, new busines configurations, data migrations, training, first line fixed price support. Equally if you just need someone to oversee or manage your Dynamics Nav implementation (because it is not delivering), contact us. Or it may be the Solution Centre assigned to you by Microsoft is not 'cutting the mustard', we can help - either by taking over or by managing the Solution Centre on your behalf.

That's all for now folks!
