Week ending 30/1/15

First off we have a facebook page for our Dynamics Nav services. Only just created but content will follow in the next few weeks. Facebook page can be found here https://www.facebook.com/DynamicsNavHelpUK.
On the accounts / tax side of the business, all done and dusted pre the deadline tomorrow! O5ther work on this side for a client that needs to auto enrol re pension before the end of this year. Client confirmed preferred pension supplier so we will now manage the enrolment process for our client.
On the Dynamics Nav side:
Spent a lot of time this week supporting / fixing / reporting on the standard Dynamics Nav consolidation process. A client had a few issues but pretty well all resolved now. Not the best consolidation routine but very functional if all you want is basic.
Quote for work approved this week so we will start this Monday. Simple development for data tracking for items and pallet label report.
Completed changes on the manufacturing planning worksheet to allow open sales orders to be included and removal of other bespoke functionality added in this area of Nav. Added functionality to check credit limits once a user tries to change prod order status from firmed planned to released. Not allowed now if credit limit exceeded. Go live Monday.
Completed a new report for a client re item / stock analysis with export to excel only. Classic Nav 2009.
Bar that a quiet week. All billings done for the month end and aged debt looks nice and current.
That's all for now folks.

Week ending 23/1/15

Hello again! Only a few days since the last (late) blog so only a few points of interest.
All accounts / personal tax for our clients completed before the deadline next week. Hooray!
On the Dynamics Nav side, the following work was completed:
Completed amendments to invoice, credit memo and pick list reports for a client re specific customers and country code / text.
A number of queries re Nav consolidation for a client - all resolved. All around accounts schedule reports and minor differences, why they have occurred and what action to take to resolve.
Not a busy week by any stretch of the imagination though back to the normal activity levels for January.
Met up with someone from my old university (which I left a few decades ago) that liaises with Alumni. Very interesting conversation and I may be able help re mentoring students (graduates and undergraduates). Wait and see.
That's all for now folks!

Tuesday 20 January 2015

Last week - I know it is a little late!

Before you know it it is nearly a month since the last blog. Oh how time flies.
On the accounts / tax side of the business, last tax returns going in today and so complete ahead of the deadline.
On the Dynamics Nav side, the following work has been completed recently:
3 days super user training including an introduction to C/Side coding. Training on database makeup as well as how to create tables, forms, reports and dataports. Based on Nav 2009 Classic.
GRNI analysis report off the relevant GL code completed and in client testing. The user confirms the end date (has to be accumulative to pick up all relevant receipts and invoices) and the report collects PO data for each receipt and invoice and then summarises by PO number. Slight issue on invoices with multiple receipts but found a useful cross reference in the Value Entry table. All working and delivered. Also found useful You Tube videos on creating Nav 2013 report layouts quickly and easily. All part of the learning process.
Set up Nav 2013 instances etc so we now have step by step instructions on how to do this. Like rolling back time given the amount of command prompt type code.
We also now have remote access to a client database for the first time - any object deliveries were via TeamViewer.
Completed ad hoc work for a client re their migration off Dynamics Nav. Basic customer and vendor masters.
Created new company (with a base configuration) for a client and loaded into the live database.
New field on item table to allow updated calculation for a client of their free stock.
So a busy 2 weeks for January. But now very quiet. A lot of quotes out awaiting client approval so we could be busy in the next week. We will have to wait and see.
Will try and post a blog this Friday.
That's all for now folks.
